The Events Are…

Not announced! We are going SNOWBLIND!

What do you mean “not announced”?

We are not announcing the events until one week before the show!

What is this madness? Surely you jest!

Nope. Blind events. No one will know what the events are until a week prior. Attempts to bribe me will be futile… unless you pay my student loans off, I’ll fold for that.

Holy crap that’s awesome! So what information can you give us?

Here’s what I can tell you:

  • As many events as possible will be contested outdoors. Consider this an Appalachian “Iceman” contest
  • I’m a jerk and I don’t like tacky, knee wraps, and super suits. These will not be allowed on any event that we happen to do here. Send your angry letters to the emails listed above. Please keep death threats to a minimum.
  • Events will be heavy and we will do our best to offer a well-rounded mix of five events.
  • Be ready for a high level of competition because only the toughest, grittiest, most fearless competitors will be coming out for a contest like this 🙂

Over Head Press Medley

  • Objects must be lifted in order
  • Last object will be lifted for reps (press only after initial clean)
  • 75sec time limit
  • Athlete must wait for “down” signal to receive credit for each lift
  • Knees, hips, and elbows must be extended with feet flat, aligned, and within shoulder width (no staggered stance) to receive credit.
  • Object must be stabilized overhead before down signal will be given. Any movement of the feet must cease before signal will be given as well.
  • Equipment allowed: one belt, buckle free sleeves, wrist wraps.

Stone Shouldering

  • 75sec time limit
  • 1pt for the lighter stone per rep, 5pts for the heavier stone per rep
    • May be head to head
  • Athletes must wait for the down signal to receive credit for a lift
  • To receive a down signal, athletes must have the stone balanced on either shoulder, have the feet flat and not moving and not more than shoulder width apart (no staggered stance), with the knees and hips extended, and the back straight. The lifter and the stone must be stationary and stable; control must be exhibited.
  • Once the lifter is ready, he/she must remove the hand of the opposite shoulder from the stone to show a full lift and receive a down signal.
  • Equipment allowed: neoprene sleeves, one belt, duct tape or athletic tape on forearms with sticky side down, leather gauntlets
  • Equipment not allowed: anything not listed above which includes tacky, rubber sleeves, grip tape, modified belts, rocket packs, etc.

Farmers Walk, Max Distance

  • May be changed to a Farmers Hold for time, no straps.
  • 60sec to go as far as possible
  • When you drop one or both of the implements, your run is over and your distance will be recorded. This includes rounding turns.

  • Equipment: Buckle free sleeves and one belt are OK. No straps.

Arm Over Arm Pull

  • 60sec
  • Pulling sled loaded with kegs or giant chains ~50ft
  • Fastest time wins. Distance will be credited if course is not finished.
  • Athlete will be seated in tire with feet braced.
  • Equipment: same as everything else.

Nail Bending

  • 75sec
  • Each athlete will be challenged with 3 nails or nail equivalents. The athlete will receive the nails in order from their designated lane manager, and they must be bent in the order received.
  • Fastest time to bend all 3 nails wins.
  • If someone does not finish all 3, they will be credited with the ones they did complete.

  • Nails must be bent (or broken) to the appropriate degree (think as close to a “U” shape as possible) or credit will not be given. Leave no more than 2inches space between the inside borders of the tips. When the athlete feels he/she has bent the nail to the appropriate degree, he/she must set the nail down on the platform provided and remove his/her hands from it. After the athlete has completed his/her heat, the referee will check the nails to ensure their completion. Credit will only be given for nails that comply with the bending requirements. Make sure each nail is bent properly before tossing it to the ground!
  • Nails may not touch the ground or other objects besides the athlete’s body during an attempt
  • Equipment allowed: buckle free sleeves, one belt (nails will be pre-wrapped)

Tie Breaker

  • In the event of a tie in the final standings, standard methods will be executed to determine a winner based on 1st places finishes, seconds, thirds, and so on.
  • If these methods fail to break the tie, the athletes in question will compete in an Axle Deadlift for Reps in 60sec.
  • Hitching is legal, standard lockout rules apply.
  • There will be a “down” signal AND a “lift” signal. These will not be slam and go reps.
  • Belts and sleeves only, no suits or straps. Shoes required. Keep your stinky sock feet covered up.

General Rules/Usual Mouser Stuff

  • In the event of a tie in the final standings, 1st place finishes will decide the winner. If there is still a tie, then 2nd place finishes will be the determinant, and so on. If a tie cannot be broken this way, athletes will compete in a tie breaker.
  • Sportsmanship is expected and required. This is the greatest sport in the world, let’s keep it that way.
  • There will be a pre-event prayer. No one is expected to participate, so please do not feel obligated. All we ask is to be respectful of those that do or do not wish to participate.
  • This is a drug free contest. If you are juiced feel free to come cheer on your buddies but please do not bother to sign up.
  • If you have a question, please ask! I would rather take a minute to clarify something than to see someone have a poor showing due to a misunderstanding.
