Maidens of Fury 2022 – Valkyrie Queen!

September 10, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Viking Performance Training Presents the

Maidens of Fury Strongwoman Challenge 2022…

VALKYRIE QUEEN!

(The second of TWO Maidens contests in 2022! Read on for information on the Maidens overall crown!)

For the second year, Viking Performance Training is hosting TWO “Maidens” events in one year! With the growing success of the competition as one of our most popular, and after a time of many events being cancelled or having low turnouts in 2020… we thought 2021 was the perfect year to introduce Contest #2 – fall’s “Maidens of Fury!”!! And now, it’s 2022… which means BIGGER, BETTER!

(Strongman Corp membership REQUIRED of all competitors, available at show)

Promoter- Sean Mullican

Is this a stand-alone event, or a an addition to March’s “Maidens of Might”?

The answer to both… is Yep! Maidens of Fury is its own stand-alone contest, adding a woman’s-only day in the fall to the successful spring date of Maidens of Might. Same camaraderie, same focus on a great show with great events, so ladies novice and experienced alike can compete alongside one another! However, for the ladies who love it all so much they want to compete in both shows… competitors can sign up for both events together to receive a discount, AND.. total points will be calculated from both events at Maidens of Fury to crown a “Grand Maiden Valkyrie Queen” for Open & Masters Divisions! (and possibly Teens or even individual weight classes!).  The “Grand Maiden Valkyrie Queen” will receive a special award AND… that’s not all… free entries to both of the next year’s Maidens events!

Truck Pull to Seated Arm Over Arm Viking Ship Pull!

  • 75 sec time limit to cover the course
  • Pull a nice big truck or jeep with a classic harness-style rope pull over a 40 foot course, then immediately take the harness off, get into a tire set up for seated arm over arm rope pulls of the Viking Ship! Viking Ship Distance about 30′.
  • Everyone will use the same harness. Please do not pester me about using your own harness. I won’t budge. In 9 years, probably 14 plus contests, and countless training sessions with 110 pound ladies all the way up to 400+lb men, no one has ever “come out” of the harness in mid-pull. The only way to accomplish that would be to literally stop pulling and move backward to create slack while letting your arms hang down to the side and slumping your shoulders. If you do that, you didn’t want to win anyway.
  • Fastest time wins; in case of not finishing, distances will be measured

Stone Load

  • Three attempts to make the biggest lift possible!
  • 30 sec to get the stone over a 44in bar. Athlete starts with hands off.
  • Each athlete may lift or pass on any given weight. Once you miss a weight, you are “out” and will be credited with your highest successful attempt. The athlete is responsible for maintaining his/her position in the rotation; failure to do so may result in disqualification from the event.
  • In the event of a tie, the athlete that took fewer attempts to reach the weight will be credited with the higher placing. If that doesn’t work, we go to higher opener. If that doesn’t work, we got to higher second attempt. If that doesn’t work… well then you just tie and split points!
  • Elbow sleeves & knee sleeves (buckling mechanisms and straps must not be tightened), a single belt, and wrist wraps are legal. Belt buckle to back/side
  • If the Stone has been loaded over the bar and time expires as the Stone is falling, the lift will still count.
  • Stones will increase in 15-25 pound increments (see chart).

Carry Medley

  • Cardio where you have to be strong! 3 Carries for the fastest time in 60 seconds or less! Over a 30 foot course, competitors will begin by carrying a yoke 30′ down across the line, at the 30′ mark will be a duck walk which will be carried 30′ back to the start line, finally, athletes have to pick up a sandbag and carry it 30′ back down the course and load it over the yoke.
  • In the case of events which aren’t completed when time expires, Athletes will be credited with distance!
  • Things allowed – sleeves (buckling and fastening mechanisms may not be employed), tape, a single belt, wrist wraps
  • Things not allowed – sticky substances of any kind including but not limited to tacky towels, spray tacky, alien boogers, and whatever these crazy kids are gluing themselves to implements with. No knee wraps, no connector rings ala Stumpy Raines, and no rubberized clothing of any sort.

Max Reps Circus Dumbbell (Light & Heavy Options)

  • When it is your turn to lift, a DB must be picked before your time starts, and you cannot change your mind once your time has started. Athletes must start hands off the DB. Athletes will have 60 seconds to produce as many reps as possible.
  • For a rep to be counted, elbow must be locked out, feet in a squared stance. Any form of overhead may be used, but meet must come squared again before the “Down” command is to be given. Weight MUST be held overhead, you will NOT get the rep if you just punch it up and instantly bring it back down!
  • You can use your off hand to clean the DB, but once the press portion of the lift begins your off hand may not touch the DB in any way.
  • The implement must touch the floor after every rep.
  • Lighter options will be with a thick handled adjustable DB, heavier options will be a Cylinder DB.
  • Same equipment rules as everything else.

Tire Axle Deadlift for Reps (Light & Heavy Options)

  • 60 sec time limit, max reps! Must stand all the way up and receive “Down” command!
  • Light and heavy options for each class.
  • The Light option will be an Apollon’s’ Axle set to ~15″ using Bartos Jacks; the heavy option will be our own Axle Bar with Tires, also to about 15″.
  • Choose your Axle, deadlift reps. Most reps wins, heavier automatically beats lighter
  • Once you choose your Axle, you are stuck with it til death do you part. No switching after you begin.
  • Straps are allowed – you will start 4 feet from the axle, so strapping in will be part of your 60 seconds should you choose to use straps.

General Rules/Usual Viking Stuff

  • Podium finish ties will be decided via tiebreaker!
  • Sportsmanship is expected and required. This is the greatest sport in the world, let’s keep it that way.
  • This is a drug free contest. If you are juiced feel free to come cheer on your buddies but please do not bother to sign up. Don’t be surprised if I show up with a duffel bag full of testing kits!
  • If you have a question, please ask! I would rather take a minute to clarify something than to see someone have a poor showing due to a misunderstanding.

Due to limited spots, any and all refund requests must be made 60 days before the event.
